Speaker’s ruling is apparently against Article 95 of Constitution: Chief Justice

The Supreme Court of Pakistan is hearing the suo motu case on the Islamabad High Court (IHC) judges’ letter that accused spy agencies of meddling in judicial affairs.

A six-member bench led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa and comprising Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel, Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Musarrat Hilali is conducting the hearing.

During the hearing, the Attorney General read out the recommendations of the Islamabad High Court.

The Chief Justice asked what are the matters which do not come under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan said that before the start of the hearing he wanted to clarify some things that the committee of the Supreme Court has decided for the hearing under Article 184/3 that all the judges who are available in Islamabad should be called.

He observed that he was not responsible for the history of the Supreme Court but he is only responsible for what happened after he became the Chief Justice.
