LONDON: Ruling Conservative party looked on course for a surprise victory in Britain’s general election as results on 500 seats have been announced of whom 218 seats won by conservative party while with tough fight conservative party just behind on 200 seats

The results of 500 seats have been announced so far from total 650 seats.

According to exit polls issued on Thursday indicated that Conservative have won the largest number of seats in Britain´s election but fallen short of an outright majority,

The centre-right Conservatives were projected to win 316 seats compared to 239 for Ed Miliband´s centre-left Labour party, in a possible victory that could put Britain on a collision course with the EU.

The poll issued by Britain´s main broadcasters as ballot boxes closed also said that the pro-independence Scottish National Party (SNP) had taken 58 out of 59 seats north of the border, which would be a massive surge in support from the six seats they held in the last parliament.

The Liberal Democrats, junior partners in Cameron´s coalition government, slumped to 10 seats from 56 currently, according to the poll.

Labour has been wiped out by the SNP in Scotland and is failing to make enough progress in England and Wales.

The Lib Dems are heading for as few as 12 MPs, with Vince Cable, Ed Davey and Danny Alexander losing their seats.

The BBC forecast, with well over half of the results now in, is Conservative 325, Labour 232, the Lib Dems 12, the SNP 56, Plaid Cymru three, UKIP two, the Greens one and others 19.
