Ronaldo scores 500th career goal

Portuguese international and Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo once again captured the spot light by scoring his 500th goal of the career and also equaling legendary Raul Gonzalez’s Champions League record.

Ronaldo scored twice on Wednesday night to guide Real Madrid 2-0 victory against Swedish side Malmo.

The Real Madrid man brought up the big 500 with a first half strike in the European Champions League — in his 753rd career game.

He then added a second to make sure Real claimed a 2-0 win and made it two wins out of two in this year’s competition.

It means he has equaled the record set by club legend Raul — who needed 741 games to reach that level compared to Ronaldo’s 308.

Ronaldo’s numbers are staggering — he is the all-time leading scorer in the Champions League with 82 goals.

He has scored 323 goals for Real Madrid since joining the club for $130 million in 2009.

His most successful season was the 2011-12 campaign where he scored an astonishing 69 goals for club and country.

Since then he has followed it up with 59, 62 and 66 last year.
