Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has achieved a significant milestone during the second T20I against New Zealand in Rawalpindi.

Rizwan, in his 79th T20I inning, became the fastest batter to score 3000 runs in T20I games, surpassing the record held jointly by Babar Azam and Virat Kohli. Both Babar and Kohli reached the milestone in 81 innings.

Also, Mohammad Rizwan becomes the second Pakistani, after Babar, to score 3,000 runs in T20I cricket.

Chasing a target of 91 runs against Black Caps, Rizwan played an unbeaten 45-run knock from 34 balls.

Mohammad Rizwan, who led Multan Sultans to final in PSL 9, is the leading contender for Pakistan’s vice-captaincy role in the shortest format. In this connection, an official announcement is expected to be made soon.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s fast bowler Mohammad Amir said that he feels fit today compared to 2019 and the national team should not have any excuse to lose T20 World Cup 2024.

While giving a press conference after the second T20 match against New Zealand in Rawalpindi, Amir said that he was ready to play any role for the team.

The star fast bowler added that good partnership leads to an effective bowling. Naseem Shaheen is bowling very well, I want to play my role between the bowling of Naseem and Shaheen. I feel myself fit and working on more fitness, he said.
