ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has written a letter to the Speaker for the change of opposition leader in the National Assembly.

Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Aamir Dogar wrote a letter to Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf for the change of the opposition leader, in which the position was taken that the Lahore High Court suspended the resignations of the members. After all, PTI is the largest opposition party, so the leader of the opposition should be from PTI.

It has been said in the letter that steps should be taken to change the leader of the opposition because according to the NAB rules, the role of the opposition leader and the leader of the house for the appointment of the chairman of NAB is important. Therefore, the new appointment in place of Aftab Sultan will be done in consultation with the opposition leader of PTI.

Earlier today, Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Aftab Sultan had resigned.

According to sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has accepted the resignation of Chairman NAB Aftab Sultan.

Chairman NAB Aftab Sultan said in a meeting with the Prime Minister that he cannot work in this environment.

Aftab Sultan refused to act on anyone’s wish, he did not want to play the role of ex-chairman NAB Javed Iqbal.

According to the sources, Aftab Sultan was under pressure to make some arrests but he refused the arrests.

Aftab Sultan belongs to the Police Service of Pakistan and is a grade 22 officer. He has also held other important posts including DG IB.

Aftab Sultan took over as NAB Chairman on July 2022 after the retirement of former Chairman NAB Javed Iqbal.
