Protests break out in occupied Kashmir after Syed Ali Geelani detained

SRINAGAR: Protests break out in occupied Kashmir as Indian forces put Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani under house arrest on Sunday.

At least four people were reportedly injured after police baton-charged and used water cannons on Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s supporters protesting against his detention.

He was placed under house arrest today with heavy security deployment outside his Hyderpora residence today morning. He was scheduled to address a seminar in Srinagar today.

Meanwhile, a ban has been enforced on the Hurriyat convention in Occupied Kashmir while detained Hurriyat leader Shabir Shah has been summoned to the Indian enforcement directorate in New Delhi.
