Islamabad: Following the government’s announcement of easing lockdown restrictions, daily life is expected to return to normalcy but the prices of face masks, gloves and hand sanitisers are still skyrocketing in the country.

According to pharmacists, despite government’s claim that the country is in a position to export these safety items, there is no end in sight to skyrocketing prices of face masks, gloves and hand sanitisers in the local market.

The N-95 mask is rare in the market as it is not available at every medical store as its price is still very high. It is being sold at Rs1800. Before the coronavirus pandemic, it’s price was Rs250. While common surgical face mask, which was earlier available for Rs5 is being sold at Rs20.

A box of gloves is now available at Rs1000. It was earlier being sold for Rs700.

Now a bottle of 100ml sanitiser is being sold at Rs250.
