PR decides to hand over KCR to private firm

LAHORE: Pakistan Railway has decided to hand over Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) to a private company.

Talking to a local TV, Chairman Railways Habib-ur-Rehman Gilani announced to build the Karachi Circular Railway on the Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis.

He said that the selection of consultant company has been completed which will give its report in 4 months.

The Chairman Railway said that the private company would build the Karachi Circular Railway on modern lines and would pay its expenses and hand over the control of the train to the railways.

Gilani said that at present 6 passenger trains are being run with the participation of private sector and 15 more passenger trains have been decided to be run with the participation of private sector.
