PPP demands President Alvi’s resignation

For caretaker govt: President writes letter to Imran Shehbaz

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party has demanded resignation of President Arif Alvi here on Wednesday.

The PPP has made the demand following the Supreme Court judgment in the Justice Qazi Faiz Issa case.

Addressing a presser here, PPP leaders including Raza Rabbani, Sherry Rehman, Sussi Palijo and Maula Bux Chandio said that President Alvi had attempted to attack the independent judiciary, which is unacceptable.

It was expected after the judgement that the president will voluntarily tender a resignation but he did no do so. The president keeping in view the said verdict should resign, they said.

The PPP leaders said that the president had not followed the legal procedures while issuing ordinances.
