PML-N Govt believes in merit for recruitment

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has said that the government of PML (N) believes in merit for recruitment and promotions of civil servants.

The premier on Tuesday(today) was addressing National Assembly session and responding to a point highlighted by opposition leader Syed Khurshid  Shah regarding favouritism in promotion of senior civil servants.

The PM said the merit is our principle and we are following the policy of merit adding that they have to do justice with the nation without any discrimination. He said they never considered the angle of provincialism in these matters.

The premier said he has not yet received any detail into recommendations of the promotion board for promotion of civil servants from grade 21 to 22. He assured the house and the leader of the opposition that he will minutely look into the matter and share the matter with the leader of the opposition Syed Khursheed Shah.

The PM assured that if there is any injustice, it will be corrected. He said in the past, many people were dropped because of their doubtful integrity and many of them were from Punjab. He said many things will have to be examined while promoting civil servants at higher level.

He said the existing acting Chairman of Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) was appointed as member of the Commission by the PPP government. He said the Commission has also representation from all the provinces.
