PIA flight operations returning to normalcy: Spokesperson

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines spokesperson Daniyal Gillani has said that flight operation was returning to normalcy and the employees were returning from strike.      

He said that eighteen flights of national flag carrier have reached their destinations since the resumption of flight operation.

Two PIA flights PK-740 and PK-7334 carrying Umrah pilgrims reached Islamabad from Jeddah this morning.

The spokesperson said that the employees of PIA’s head office Karachi have called off the strike and resumed their duties. Employees of PIA in Islamabad have also called off the strike and resumed their duties.

After resumption of PIA flights operation, first flight from Jeddah, PK-732 has arrived in Karachi while another Jeddah bound flight PK-7355 departed from Islamabad on Monday.

In Islamabad office of PIA, routine work has resumed and all employees are performing their duties.

Meanwhile, four missing employees of PIA returned home. Meanwhile, PIA Spokesman says action has been initiated against employees involved in illegal activities.

In a statement, he said with the enforcement of essential services act, action is being taken against those who prevent employees from going to work. He said there are reports of threats to those employees who are willing to resume duty.

The spokesman said as per directions of the Government, security is being provided to those joining their duties.
