Pervaiz Rasheed’s statement: Religious leaders announce countrywide protest on May 15

KARACHI: Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC) has decided to stage countrywide protest demonstration on Friday May-15 against the statement of Federal Information Minister Pervez Rashid in which he disgraced the integrity of Madressahs/seminaries.

This was decided in an important meeting of Milli Yagjehti Council (MYC) headed by its President Sahabzada Abul Khair Zubair at Idara-e-Noor Haq.

In the meeting, the leaders of MYC were also discussed internal and external situation, publication of sacrilegious caricatures and recent situation created after the statement of Federal Minister Pervez Rashid.

Speaking at the occasion, Sahabzada Abul Khair Zubair said that the Islamic history through a planned conspiracy is being eliminated from education curriculum, adding that the statement of Pervez Rashid in which he termed the seminaries “centers of illiteracy” was highly condemnable.

On the occasion, President MYC demanded the government to clear its stance over the statement of Pervez Rashid, adding that such types of statements are attempt to damage national integrity and Operation “Zarb-e-Azb”.

Secretary Milli Yagjehti Council (MYC) Liaquat Baloch said that the anti-state elements through a planned conspiracy is trying to sabotage the national consensus, adding that all political parties after Peshawar school tragedy had made consensus to implement on “National Action Plan” for bringing peace in the country.

Baloch further regretted that the intentions of government have been changed after introducing constitutional amendment, adding that the statement of Pervez Rashid was damaged the national consensus.

He urged the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to take notice of the statement issued by his cabinet minister, so that religious harmony could be produced among all sects.

Earlier, organizational setup of Milli Yagjehti Council (MYC) was being introduced at Sindh province level in which Asadullah Bhutto nominated as President MYC,

Qazi Ahmed Noorani as Secretary, Muhammad Hussain Mahenti as Finance Secretary, Barjees Ahmed as coordinator, Zahid Askari as Secretary Information and Dr Mairaj-ul-Huda Siddiqui as Chairman Reconciliation Committee.

Jamiat-e-Ittehad Ulema Pakistan President Maulana Abdul Maalik, Asadullah Bhutto, Dr Mairaj-ul-Huda Siddiqui, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, Qazi Ahmed Noorani, Allama Nazir Abbas Naqvi, Syed Baqar Zaidi, Maulana Muhammad Sadiq Jaffery and others participated in the meeting of MYC.
