Pakistan lifts all Covid restrictions

ISLAMABAD: The government has announced to lift all the Covid-related restrictions on Wednesday.

Asad Umar, the head of the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) and Federal Minister, announced the lifting of Corona restrictions in the country.

Asad Umar addressing a press conference alongwith Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan said that the number of Corona cases has been steadily declining and all restrictions regarding Corona are being lifted.

He said that 70 per cent of the people have been fully vaccinated while the epidemic is not over, it is in the process of eradication.

It should be noted that the government has also decided to close down the anti-Corona agency NCOC, which is expected to be announced soon.

Earlier in January, Covid positivity ration in Karachi had surged to 41 per cent, confirm the Sindh health department.

According to the provincial health department, 3,149 new infections had been detected in the port city over the past 24 hours after 7,670 diagnostic tests were conducted. As a result, the mega city has been identified as Covid hotspot.

Besides Karachi, Covid positivity rate has also surged in several other cities including Hyderabad 17.27 per cent, Islamabad  15.37 per cent, Lahore  14.25 per cent, Rawalpindi  12.75 per cent, Peshawar 11.20 per cent.
