Pakistan, Kazakhstan sign trade, other MoUs

ASTANA: Pakistan and Kazakhstan have signed several agreements and Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in different areas.

The ceremony held at Astana was attended, among others, by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Kazakh counterpart Karim Massimov.

Under a MoU signed with Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, the two countries have agreed to promote bilateral trade and investment while another MoU was signed between Foreign Service Academy of Pakistan and Kazakhstan Academy of Public Administration for training of diplomats.

The two countries also signed a MoU for cooperation in defence and strategic research.

Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Erlan Idrissov called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Astana on Tuesday.

During the meeting, they agreed to enhance trade and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Kazakhstan.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interests.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan accords high priority to its deep historical and cultural bonds with the central Asian region while Pakistan is committed to expand cooperative relations with Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister said that the relation between Pakistan and Kazakhstan will further be improved due to the visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Earlier, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif arrived in Kazakhstan on a two day official visit.

During the visit to Astana, the Prime Minister will hold meetings with President Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev and Prime Minister Karim Massimov.
