Pak forex figure $ 23.612 bln

KARACHI: Total liquid foreign exchange reserves of the country figure dollars 23.612 billion on Sept 30, 2016, said State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

SBP’s weekly statement here Thursday said that foreign reserves held by State Bank on Sept. 30, amounted $ 18,491.1 million and the net foreign reserves held by commercial banks were $ 5,121.3 million.

Over the week, the country’s total reserves increased by $ 194million to $ 23,612 million. Whereas, SBP’s liquid foreign exchange reserves increased by $ 96 million to $ 18,491 million during the week.

The increase in SBP’s reserves is due to proceeds of $ 102 million received from International Monetary Fund (IMF) as the last tranche under EFF.
