Nisar to brief media over developments in Imran Farooq murder case

ISLAMABAD:  Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Wednesday that he will brief media persons regarding development made in Imran Farooq murder case after a week.

Talking to media in Islamabad the Minister said ” we should respect investigating agencies and judiciary” and urged the media not to comment on Imran Farooq murder case and Shafqat Hussain case.

Nisar said the government is determined to take Dr Imran Farooq murder case to its logical conclusion.

The Minister  said Dr Imran Farooq’s murder case remained a blind murder case in last three years, adding it was Pakistani intelligence agencies which provide key clues to the British authorities.

He clarified that his meeting with British High Commissioner Philip Barton on Tuesday (yesterday)  was prescheduled and it had nothing to do Altaf Hussain appearance before London police .

He said whatever information has been shared with the UK government was done under the directives of the prime minister and international obligations.

The Minister said that neither he has given any briefing to any ambassador so far nor in future he will do so.

He added that the British authorities have not asked the Pakistani government to handover anyone until now.

Nisar said that the government was not taking this case as a political issue rather the government was cooperating with the British government under our legal and religious obligations.

Furthermore, he said UK envoy was told categorically that there would no one-way cooperation as far as handing over of wanted criminals is concerned.

The Minister said that the government was cooperating with British authorities for more than a year.
