‘Night Coach’ train ploughs into truck near Raiwind, many injured

RAIWIND: A Karachi-bound Lahore train ploughed into truck loaded with a container which resulted injuring many passengers near Raiwind town in Punjab province.

The accident took place near Prem Nagar railway station when the Karachi-bound ‘Night Coach’ train hit a truck coming on the track following opened entrance gate, local sources said.

Rescue sources said that 11 passengers were severely wounded after derailing of three bogies following the massive collision by the truck. One among injured person succumbed to injuries while being shifted to the hospital.

The accident also caused damages to nearby coaster and vehicle.

Pakistan Railways’ spokesperson said rescue teams were dispatched to the incident’s site. He added that other trains were diverted to railway tracks linking Faisalabad till clearance of the Raiwind track.
