NA, Senate approve Gas Infrastructure Development Cess Bill 2015

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) led federal government with support of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) managed to pass controversial Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC) Bill 2015 claiming that the move would contribute 120 billion rupees annually into the national exchequer.

The bill was moved in the Lower House on Wednesday for consideration while it has been approved with support of friendly opposition PPP and later the bill was also approved by Upper House (Senate) on the same day.

Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the country needs 1000 billion rupees for maintaining and improving the gas system in the country and the bill will contribute 120 billion rupees annually into the national exchequer to make infrastructure development in the country.
