LAHORE: The Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC), the largest religious alliance in the country, has denounced the US Congress vote allowing the victims of the 9/11 tragedy to sue Saudi Arabia for compensation, and have termed it an anti-Islam move and a conspiracy to corner Saudi Arabia.

MYC President Abul Khair Dr Muhammad Zubair, Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, and  vice presidents Maulana Amjad Khan, Hafiz Akif Saeed, Hafiz Abdur Rahman Makki and Maulana Malik Abdur Rauf , in a joint statement here on Thursday, said that the 9/ 11 was no doubt a big tragedy but not a single report of any independent investigation or evidence into the 9/11 had been made public so far which proved that elements within the US were involved in the incident.

The MYC leadership pointed out that the US, Britain and their allies had jointly attacked Iraq  and devastated the country on the pretext of possessing weapons of mass destruction. However, they said recently former British Prime Minister and the chief of the British investigation agency had admitted that the Iraq war had been a great mistake. They said that unfortunately, the UN and even the Muslim countries were maintaining criminal silence over that.

They said that the litigation by the 9/11 victims against Saudi Arabia for compensation would be a cunning US move and an attack on the independence, sovereignty, security and sanctity of the sacred places of the Muslim world.
