MQM-P, opposition ‘seal the deal’: sources

ISLAMABAD: Matters have been settled between the joint opposition and the MQM-P.

According to opposition sources, the MQM will support the opposition in the no-confidence motion while a draft agreement between the two is being prepared.

According to sources, the draft will be signed by the leaders of MQM Pakistan and the joint opposition, after which the two delegations will hold a press conference.

The sources said that a joint press conference of the opposition delegation and MQM Pakistan leaders is expected shortly.

Earlier, the PPP had made a big offer to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM) if it supports the opposition on no-trust motion.

The joint opposition delegation met the MQM delegation at Parliament Lodges on Monday.

Opposition sources said that the no-confidence motion and political situation were discussed during the meeting.

According to opposition sources, the PPP made a big offer to the MQM if it sided with the opposition.

The sources said that the MQM has also been offered a fair share in Sindh cabinet while administratorship in Karachi and Hyderabad has also been offered.

It may be recalled that a government delegation had met the MQM-P today in which another ministry was offered by the government.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Imran Khan has nominated PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi as Chief Minister of Punjab in return for his support to the no-confidence motion against him.

An announcement has been made about the meeting between PM Imran Khan and the PML-Q delegation. According to the statement, in the meeting, the prime minister told Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi that he has accepted the resignation of Usman Buzdar. I nominate you as the Chief Minister of Punjab on behalf of my party.

According to the statement, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan for nominating him as the Chief Minister of Punjab and said that he would come upto his expectations.
