Morata’s double secures Spain win over Malta

Alvaro Morata scored twice to help Spain secure a Euro 2020 win over battling Malta.

Spain found it tough going against their unfancied hosts, but Morata calmed their nerves when he opened the scoring just after the half hour from a narrow angle.

The Athletico Madrid star then doubled the lead as he headed home a Jesus Navos cross to ensure the country made it two wins from two in Group F.

But Spain had to play the game without manager Luis Enrique, who flew home to deal with a family emergency.
