KARACHI: The family of Maulana Dr Adil Khan Shaheed has refused to register an FIR against the target killing of the renowned scholar.
Police sources said that the family of Maulana Adil had made the decision after consultation with the close aides of the renowned religious scholar.
Now the case will be registered on behalf of the state, they added.
Earlier in the day, the Karachi Ulema Committee (KUC) had given 48-hour ultimatum to the government for the arrest of the killers of Dr Adil Khan Shaheed.
The KUC has issued a statement today in which it strongly condemned the murder of the administrator of Jamia Farooqia.
It urged the state and government institutions to immediately arrest the killers of Dr Adil Khan.
The KUC warned of taking direct action in case the killers were not arrested.
The ulema said that not providing security to Maulana Adil was government’s negligence.
