LSM growth climbs up by 4.7pc in July

ISLAMABAD:  Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has said that Large-scale manufacturing rate of the country increased by 4.67 per cent in July as compared to the same month in the previous day.

Finance  Minister Ishaq Dar said in a meeting on LSM,“This is a welcome development for GDP growth of this fiscal year. The provisional LSM growth during the previous fiscal year was estimated at 3.32pc.”

He expressed his satisfaction over the LSM growth and said that the government was doing all it could to facilitate every sector of the economy. The overall growth in steel production remained strong on account of capacity expansion.

In the auto sector, trucks production rose by 49.5pc, tractors by 32pc, buses 38pc, cars and jeeps 83.5pc and LCVs (light commercial vehicles) by 144pc. Production of motorcycles increased by 12.8pc during the month under review.
