LAHORE: A Lahore High Court (LHC) division bench on Monday granted bail to an accused, Waheed Ullah Kalo, allegedly involved in killing of Pakistan Muslim League-N MPA Rana Shamshad and two others.

The bench ordered the accused to deposit two surety bonds of Rs 500,000 each. The bench, headed by Justice Shahid Hameed Dar, heard the bail plea.

Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel arguing before the court submitted that Kamoke Saddar police registered a case under sections 302, 324 and 427 of the PPC over killing of PML-N MPA and two others in 2015. He said that the accused was not nominated in the FIR but his name was included later in the case due to personal enmity.

He pointed out that four accused had already been granted bail in the matter. He pleaded with the court to grant bail to the accused as per principal of consistency.

However, the prosecution opposed the bail plea and submitted that the accused was involved in murder.

The bench, after hearing detailed arguments from the parties, granted bail to the accused.
