KARACHI: Police detained at least 132 citizens from Sea View for violating ban imposed on pillion riding as part of the security arrangements for the Chehlum of martyrs of Karbala.
According to police officials, more than 80 motorcycles were taken into custody and 19 cases registered. Arrests of 23 suspects were made from the area of Jackson.
Police stated that the ban on pillion riding has been imposed keeping in mind the recent incidences of firing in the metropolis and maintenance of law and order in Karachi.
However, according to a notification issued by the Sindh home Ministry, old people, children, women, journalists and members of law enforcement agencies have impunity from the ban.
