Karachi Mayor visits Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum after being freed

KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar Wednesday visited mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah after being freed from jail.

He was accompanied by the MQM-Pakistan central leaders including head of the party Dr Farooq Sattar.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah welcomed the release of Waseem Akhtar. In a statement, the chief minister said that the release of mayor would help reduce problems of Karachi’s citizens.

People of Karachi would get relief from problems under the leadership of the mayor, he added.

Earlier, Waseem was freed from jail after he successfully overcomes last legal hurdle in way of his release.

MQM central leadership and a large number of party workers accorded warm welcome to the mayor upon his release outside the jail.

His release comes after the court accepted bail application of Waseem Akhtar in a case pertaining to treatment of terrorists. It was last of the 39 cases filed against him. —INP
