KARACHI: Karachi populace is facing acute water shortage as nightlong power breakdown in the city suspended power supply to pumping stations.

According to Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) spokesman, Tuesday’s power breakdown has affected water supply to city from two main pumping stations – North-East Karachi (NEK) and Hub pumping station.

Due to the outage, he said, almost all pumping stations of the city could not receive water from Hub and NEK stations, resulting in major water shortage in Karachi.

Pumping of water to the city from Pipri and Gharo stations was also suspended, he said, adding that a main line of water has burst at Dhabeji station that has also disrupted water supply to Karachi.
