LAHORE: Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq,  has said that the country’s politics could not be cleaned of the corrupt elements without the implementation of articles 62 and 63 of the constitution.

Addressing the Talent Award ceremony of the Islami Jamiat e Talaba (IJT) at Nishtar Hall, Peshawar, on Thursday, he said the conditions prevailing in the country demanded that the Supreme Court adopted the touchstone of articles 62 and 63.

Sirajul Haq said that the Pakistan created by the Quaid e Azam was not meant for the plunderers, commission mafia or thugs. He said the rulers’ gift to the nation was nothing but corruption, lawlessness, price spiral, unemployment and exploitation.

Reiterating his resolve to build Pakistan into an Islamic welfare state, the JI chief exhorted the youth to support the JI for evolving a society free from corruption and exploitation, a society in which everybody was provided justice at his doorstep and his rights were fully protected.

While talking to the media outside the Supreme Court, the JI chief said that several rulers in the world had publicly apologized to their nation after their corruption was exposed and had resigned from their high offices. But unfortunately, nothing of this nature had happened in this country. He deplored that neither any political party had taken action against the black sheep in its ranks nor had any one felt shame for his loot and plunder as the corrupt politicians continued to defend one another.

Sirajul Haq said that the counsel of the Prime Minister and his family had a weak case and the government seemed to be trying to hide itself behind hollow arguments. He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif could be able to answer many questions regarding the wealth of his family and remove the confusion on this score by personally appearing in the court.

He said the sooner the Panama leaks case was decided, the better it would be for the nation and the country as the future of the nation depended on that.  He said that so far, the government had been able to educate the nation that Panama was the best place to hide unlawful wealth.

Sirajul Haq said that the Supreme Court remarks about him were a challenge for himself and the JI leadership and they should keep their record neat and clean.
