KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Engr. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has strictly criticized the K-Electric (KE) for sudden and harsh increase of 30 percent in its tariff.

In a statement, on Wednesday, the JI Amir lambasted the KE and said that the entity has continuously been violating the agreement of its privatization.

He said that it was agreed under the privatization accord of the company that new power plants would be installed, more investment would be made and uninterrupted electricity would be provided to the citizens. He added that instead of following the terms and conditions of the agreement, the KE only focused on minting money by any means without discrimination of its legality or otherwise.

The JI leader said that majority of Karachi’s populace is living a miserable life due to load shedding, overbilling and other nefarious tactics of the company.

He demanded of the KE to withdraw the cruel increase in the tariff of the electricity. Terming the increase utmost brutal atrocity towards Karachities.

He also demanded of the government to nationalize the KE or let other providers in so as to end the monopoly of the KE, letting the people take a sigh of relief.
