KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan on Tuesday called for Pakistan’s federal government to take over Karachi’s power supplying company K-Electric.

The JI spokesperson said that the government should immediately nationalize K-Electric as the company has failed to add a single megawatt of electricity in last 10 years.

The spokesperson for the JI also announced to register a case against KE over power shortage.

Hafiz Naeem said that the performance of K-Electric has been revealed during the scorching summer, as around 250people have lost their lives due to prolonged load-shedding in hot summer.

“The K-Electric, on one hand, has been increased the woes of the masses by sending excessive bills while on the other hand, its terrorists recovery officers also created problems for the innocent people”, he added.

Hafiz Naeem said that the apathy of K-Electric has compelled the masses to stage protest demonstration against the unannounced load-shedding during the sacred month of Ramadan.

He endorsed the remarks of Federal Minister Abid Sher Ali over pathetic performance of K-Electric adding the management is only determined to double its profits and minting around Rs5billion in share of over-billing.
