ROME: Italy police on Friday arrested a Pakistani suspected of involvement in the Peshawar market bombing — one of the Pakistan’s bloodiest attacks.

The man was held at Rome’s Fiumicino airport after stepping off a flight from Pakistan.

Italian police sources say that the suspect has been living in Italy and also hid a “suspected suicide attacker who was supposed to carry out an attack” in Italy.

The 28 October 2009 Peshawar bombing occurred in Peshawar, Pakistan, when a car bomb was detonated in a Meena Bazar (Market for women and children) of the city. The bomb killed 137 people and injured more than 200 others, making it one of the deadliest attacks in Pakistan’s history.
