Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi has strongly condemned Israel’s attack on consular annex in Damascus.

The cowardly crime will not go unanswered, Raisi said on his office’s website

He added that after repeated defeats and failures against the faith of the Resistance Front fighters, Israel has put blind assassinations on its agenda to save itself.

Israeli air strikes, earlier, destroyed the Iranian embassy’s consular annex in Damascus. As a result, a top Revolutionary Guard commander among seven members of the force were martyred.

Israel refused to comment on the attack, but Iran vowed a stiff response.

Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps named Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi and another high-ranking officer, Brigadier General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, as among seven of its members martyred.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said 11 people, including several Guards members, were martyred when Israeli missiles destroyed a building of an annex to the Iranian Embassy.

Those martyred include eight Iranians, two Syrians and one Lebanese, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights chief Rami Abdel Rahman said.

Iran’s Ambassador to Syria Hossein Akbari0 told media the attack was carried out by F-35 fighter jets that fired six missiles at the building.

Journalists witnessed the annex building had caved in, and emergency services were searching for victims under the rubble as sirens sounded in the Damascus district of Mazzeh.
