PSL 2017: Qalandars beat United by six wickets

DUBAI: Jason Roy’s unbeaten 60 helped Lahore Qalandars to clinch a comfortable win against Islamabad United in 4th match of Pakistan Super League on Friday.

Qalandars chased 159 runs target with 10 balls remaining in their innings thanks to some responsible batting display by Roy, who was awarded man of the match, and Umra Akmal (35).

Both contributed 71 for the third wicket to register their first victory in PSL 2nd edition.

Skipper Brandon McCullum (25) provided a flying start which made target a lot easier. Mohammad Sami of Islamabad United showed some resistance but only managing to pick a wicket.

Experienced all-rounder, Shane Watson had a rough day with both bat and bowl. He gave 40 runs in his 4 overs just picking up a wicket.

Earlier, thanks to Misbah ul Haq’s superb batting display, United posted 158 runs after being put into bat.

Smith and Billing provided them a traffic start, as they put 73 for the first wicket. Smith made 31 while Billings scored 37 before both being bowled by Grant Elliott in the same over.

Then Elliot went on to pick wickets of Haddin (9) and Watson (7) for Lahore. Elliott picked 4 wickets in 3 overs just giving away 23 runs.

However, Skipper Misbah went on to scored unbeaten 61 to guide the total to 158 runs.

With this victory Qalandars moved to third spot on the points table behind Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi.
