Ishaq Dar, Jahangir Tareen discuss cooperation in Punjab and Centre

Tareen group to support Hamza Shehbaz for post of Punjab CM: PML-N

LONDON: Former finance minister Ishaq Dar and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen have made contact.

According to sources, the talks between Jahangir Tareen and Ishaq Dar lasted for half an hour in which possible cooperation between Punjab and the federation was also discussed.

Sources close to the matter said that a joint candidate for the post of chief minister and future contacts were considered.

They claimed that the two leaders also discussed a no-confidence motion against Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

The two leaders were not available for comment on the meeting. The Tareen group has been playing an important role in the politics of the federation and Punjab in recent times.

It is to mentioned here that both Ishaq Dar and Jahangir Tareen are currently in London.

Last month. PML-N senior and leader and former finance minister Ishaq Dar wrote Senate chairman that he is willing to take oath of Senate member.

In this connection, the former finance minister had written a letter to Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani.

Dar, in the letter, expressed his willingness to take oath via video link from the UK. He cited Article 255 (2) of the Constitution, which provides mechanism.

Dar said that he is unable to return home in the wake of ongoing medical treatment and illness.
