ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar in the wake of looking after government affairs in absence of Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif who is still recovering from his opened heart surgery, has cancelled his visit to Beijing, China scheduled from next week.
Finance Ministry spokesperson on Saturday said that Ishaq Dar was scheduled to attend the first annual meeting of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) at Beijing on June 25 to 26, 2016. The Minister was also scheduled to speak at a seminar, besides holding certain other meetings during the visit.
In a letter addressed to the President AIIB, the Finance Minister has expressed regrets over his inability to attend the annual meeting.
Secretary, Economic Affairs Division Tariq Bajwa would now represent Pakistan at the event.
