India admits situation in occupied Kashmir not normal, splashes ads in papers urging locals to quit shutdown

SRINAGAR: India government has finally admitted that situation in Kashmir is not peaceful as it splashed full-page advertisements in the local newspaper persuading locals against joining ongoing shutdown and strike by transporters.

The Jammu and Kashmir government admitted abnormal situation in the valley by putting advertisements “Closed shop, no public transport?” in local newspapers.

The advertisements asked Kashmiris “who benefits” from this situation, urging them to think about.

Earlier, since Aug 5 both the India’s central government and Jammu & government had been insisting that overall situation in the valley is normal.
