If president obstructs key appointments, we have a plan B: Dar

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said that if the president obstructs important appointments, we have a plan B.

In a statement, Ishaq Dar said that the decision to appoint both the posts on merit is commendable, may Allah have mercy on those who assume the new responsibilities.

The finance minister said that the appointments to two important positions of Pakistan Army will be done by November 28. If the President obstructs the appointments, we have a plan B as well.

He further said that the appointment of the Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee will be done before November 27 and both the appointments can be on two different days. So it is hoped that the entire process will be completed by November 28.

On the other hand, Pakistan Muslim League (N) Senator Irfan Siddiqui said that what had to happen has already happened. Imran Khan wants to gratify his defeated ego by calling his obedient workers. President Alvi should have thought a thousand times about the negative tradition of 75 years of history.

Earlier, the government has decided to appoint Lt Gen Asim Munir as Army Chief and Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad as Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee here on Thursday.

 

Taking to Twitter on Thursday, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the prime minister exercising his constitutional powers has decided to appoint Lt Gen Asim Munir as Army Chief and Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad as Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee.

She added that in this regard a summary has been sent to President Arif Alvi.

Earlier, Qamar Zaman Kaira, a senior leader of the People’s Party, has said that if the President has the authority to stop the summary for 15 days, then we will also be thinking of some way to deal it.

Qamar Zaman Kaira said that the most senior officer may be given temporary command of the army, or the Prime Minister may temporarily ask the current chief to continue working.

Qamar Zaman Kaira said that Imran Khan played with the cipher, played with the Pakistani economy and played with the agreement with the IMF.

On Wednesday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has said that whoever is appointed as the army chief by Nawaz Sharif would become controversial from the day one.

In an interview with a local TV,  Imran said that individual would become man of Nawaz Sharif.
