Hong Kong stocks end morning sharply higher

HONG KONG: Hong Kong and Shanghai stocks rallied on Tuesday morning ahead of closely watched meetings of the US and Japanese central banks this week.

The Hang Seng Index jumped 0.90 percent, or 198.57 points, to 22,192.01 by the break.

And the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.45 percent, or 13.68 points, to 3,029.51, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, added 0.53 percent, or 10.74 points, to 2,030.55.
