HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks tumbled in the first few minutes of trade Wednesday, in line with a sell-off across Asia following losses on Wall Street as the effects of Britain’s vote to leave the EU begin to kick in.

The Hang Seng Index fell 1.63 percent, or 337.97 points, to 20,412.75.

And the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index eased 0.26 percent, or 7.87 points, to 2,998.52 while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, gave up 0.28 percent, or 5.52 points, to 2,000.86.
