Hong Kong, Shanghai stocks end down on weak earnings, US growth

HONG KONG: Stocks tumbled in Hong Kong and Shanghai Friday following data showing slower-than-expected growth in the US economy and disappointing earning from two mainland Chinese energy giants.

The Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong fell 1.52 percent, or 325.07 points, to 21,062.96.

And the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.25 percent, or 7.27 points, to 2,938.32 while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, edged down 0.02 percent, or 0.32 points, to 1,873.99.
