At least four persons lost their lives following fierce weather hammered Texas this holiday weekend which resulted accidents on different spots.

Freezing rain and flood waters swept residents out of their cars and pushed state rainfall totals to record levels, USAToday reported. The victims also include a child while the latest victim was a 70-year-old woman swept from a bridge in Fort Worth on Friday. A sheriff’s deputy who was washed away trying to assist her was later rescued after managing to cling to a tree, reports said.

Three others were killed after being trapped in flooded cars.

The rains will continue Saturday night before a second band of weather coming up from Mexico slashes through the state Sunday, bringing an additional half-inch to an inch-and-a-quarter of rainfall, said Paul Walker, a senior meteorologist with Accuweather.
