Hamid Khan quits as PTI counsel in Panama Leaks case in SC

ISLAMABAD: Senior lawyer and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Hamid Khan has quit as lead counsel of PTI in Panama Leaks case in the Supreme Court and informed the party chief about his decision.

Sources said that Hamid Khan telephoned party chairman Imran Khan and expressed his concerns over the campaign in media during the last 24 hours.  Hamid Khan told the PTI chief that it was not possible for him to represent PTI in Panama case anymore in the SC following the media campaign.

“I have apprised Chairman Sahib I can contest a case in the court, but I am unable to indulge in a media war,” he said while talking to media. The lawyer said he has informed Imran Khan about his decision.

Imran praised Hamid Khan for representing the party in the Panama case. Upon this Hamid Khan thanked Imran for acknowledging his services, but urged PTI chief to allow him to quit the case.

Imran said that he wanted Hamid Khan to continue assisting the PTI legal team in the case.

“In my opinion Naeem Bukhari can continue with the case as he has done a lot of work on it,” he said of another senior lawyer of the PTI team.

Hamid Khan said the case was solid and should be decided in PTI’s favour.
