Govt announces Eidul Fitr holidays from May 22-27

Islamabad: The federal government has announced six holidays on account of the Eidul Fitr. 

According to the Home Ministry notification,  the Eid holidays will be from May 22 (Friday) to 27 (Thursday).

During the holidays, all the markets, businesses and public places will remain closed. However, only medical stores and essential item shops will be allowed to open.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government had announced a week-long holidays on Eidul Fitr.

Sources said that the holidays will be from May 25 to 31 during which parks and public transport will also be remained closed.

In this connection, the notification will issue after the approval of the Punjab chief minister.

The ministry of religious affairs said that the Reut e Hilal Committee meeting will be held on May 23 in Karachi for sighting the moon of Shawal.
