DHAKA : The Government of Pakistan has allowed the national cricket team to participate in the matches of ICC World T20 scheduled in various venues in India, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shahryar Khan on Thursday.

The permission has been given specifically for the ICC World T20 2016, which starts from March 8, said the PCB chairman.

“I am pleased that our government has given its consent for our team to visit India,” said PCB Chairman Shaharyar M. Khan, who is currently in Dhaka where the national T20 side is taking part in the Asia Cup tournament.

“As a duty of care, we have asked ICC to put in place special arrangements for the Pakistan cricket team while in India we will also be expecting visa facilitation and other arrangements for the Pakistani fans wishing to visit India for the ICC World T20 2016,” he said.

Pakistan had expressed security fears about playing in India because of anti-Pakistan sentiments in many parts of that country.

The PCB chairman has earlier said that the decision to play Pakistan’s World T20 matches at Indian venues would only be taken after consulting with the government, and that if it refuses to allow the team to travel to India, the board will ask the ICC to shift Pakistan’s matches to a neutral venue.
