WELLINGTON: Geologists have found underground reservoirs in the Taupo Volcanic Zone in New Zealand could contain millions of dollars worth of silver, gold and other precious metals. They say magma is heating the water and causing metals to accumulate and stressed the need of new techniques to extract the metals. Scientists have discovered huge untapped reserves of gold and silver inside the super-heated reservoirs within a string of volcanoes.

They say magma plumes at in the Taupo Volcanic Zone in New Zealand is heating water to produce scalding hot acidic reservoirs and springs that are dissolving the surrounding rock.
