ISLAMABAD: Election tribunal rejecting the appeal against former Prime minister Shahid Abbasi,  has allowed him to contest in the upcoming elections.

The Islamabad Tribunal headed under IHC judge Justice Mohsin Akhter heard the arguments presentd by former PM Khaqan Abbasi’s lawyer.

He stated “ that his client had filed the nomination papers according to what he thought was suffice , while the returning officer exceeding the authority rejected his papers saying they were incomplete.”

Former PM’s nomination papers were rejected under Section “N” which asks the contestant to state the projects which under his tenure were completed for the welfare of the people.

The former in his defense said that “ I had always stood with dignity in my constituency and had worked hard for the welfare of the people. Give right to the people not to the returning officer for dismissing a contender.”
