Fix price of oxygen cylinder within two days, SC directs govt

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has directed the government to fix price of a oxygen cylinder within two days.

The apex court heard a suo motu case about the measures taken to deal with the coronavirus here on Wednesday.

The chief executive officer of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (Drap) told the court that the price fixing of oxygen comes in the domain of the ministry of industries.

The court directed to the ministry of industries to fix price for oxygen cylinder and formulate a procedure to determine the price within two days.

The Advocate General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government told the court that suppliers were selling oxygen at exorbitant rates in the absence of official price of the gas.

The SC also sought a report from the federal government on oxygen production at the Pakistan Steel Mills.
