MULTAN: Agriculture department advised the farmers to complete cultivation of garlic by the end of October.
Temperature ranging from 22 degree centigrade to 35 degree centigrade is suitable for garlic cultivation, said assistant director agriculture (information) Naveed Asmat Kohloon, here on Tuesday. He said that China was at top for cultivation of garlic and it achieved 7.8 ton produce from one acre. However, Pakistan was obtaining nearly three ton per acre. Garlic is cultivated in all provinces and the month of October is crucial for garlic cultivation, he added.
He proposed farmers to cultivate recommended varieties of garlic, adding that nearly 160 kg healthy seeds (pothian) of garlic were enough for one acre. These must be cultivated in fertile land for bumper yield. He also urged them to contact agriculture department for seeking any guidance in this regard.
