Facilitator of Chinese consulate attack arrested in Sharjah

The main facilitator of the attack on the Chinese consulate in Karachi has been arrested from Sharjah.

DIG CTD Abdullah Sheikh said the facilitator was present in Karachi at the time of the attack. According to the police official, the facilitator had received Rs0.9 million for the attack which he distributed to the attackers.

Sheikh added that the facilitator has connections in foreign countries and was arrested on CTD’s identification.

On November 23, security forces foiled an attack on the Chinese consulate located in the Clifton neighbourhood of Karachi. Security personnel killed the attackers, recovering suicide jackets and ammunition.

Two policemen were martyred in the attack, while staff at the consulate was unhurt.

Earlier this month, Additional IG Karachi Dr Amir Shaikh said that India and its Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) members were involved in the attack along with terrorists belonging to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).

Shaikh revealed that the attack had been planned in Afghanistan and the purpose was to sabotage the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
