Employees’ three-hour daily strike against PIA privatisation begins

KARACHI: The joint action committee of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) employees on Monday announced a three-hour daily strike against issuance of the Presidential Ordinance aimed at privatising the national flag carrier.

The protest demonstrations by PIA employees continued on Tuesday, during which the participants were carrying banners against the privatisation of PIA.

Pakistan Airline Pilots’ Association (Palpa) former president Captain Sohail Baloch said the national airlines was set up by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and we will not allow it to be sold out.

Members of joint action committee announced to stage a sit-in from tomorrow closing doors of the PIA head office and to observe a three-hour strike in all departments from 8:30 am to 11:30 am.

They also said that none of the higher officials including the chairman PIA will be allowed to enter offices.
